Systems Change and Environmental Policy uses sociological and psychological theories to analyze US environmental policymaking by exploring how dynamic interactions between stakeholders impact environmental policy.

My thesis analyzes how state newspapers talk about a state-level climate change mitigation policy. It examines which frames (e.g. economic impacts, climate impacts, health impacts, etc.) predominate nationally, by region, by time period, and by partisanship in discussions of the policy. Case studies of activists in Nevada and Michigan provide additional context on how activists made decisions about framing.
