Regenerative Medicine and Bioethics, AB

Advisor:  Gary Wessel

Capstone:  Science as Presented in the Media—Consequences and Implications on the General Public

Capstone Advisor:  Gary Wessel

The concentration in Regenerative Medicine and Applied Bioethics emphasizes an interdisciplinary study of the science that is Regenerative Medicine and the need to focus on ethical considerations for such advancements and the progression of scientific study today. My concentration aims to answer the question, “What is the burgeoning field of Regenerative Medicine, and how are ethical dilemmas necessarily intertwined?”.

My capstone involved a survey-based study to examine (1) the general public's opinion of how scientific advancements are represented in the media and (2) the general public's knowledge of various topics within the field of Regenerative Medicine. Results were analyzed within the scope of current U.S. regulations and fueled new policy recommendations.

Acknowledgments:  Thank you to my advisors, friends, and family! I truly could not have done this without all of you.
