Capstone:  The Ethical Application of Fiduciary Relationships in Government

Capstone Advisor:  David Estlund

A concentration in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics synthesizes the knowledge of moral principles and logic; an understanding of liberalism, libertarianism, and socialism; as well as the study of market structures to provide a holistic perspective. This holistic perspective analyzes the relationships between individuals and institutions, primarily in the federal government of the United States.

My capstone essay uses modern thinking on fiduciary relationships from the discipline of business ethics to investigate Locke's position that the federal government would be best structured as a fiduciary. The paper aims to address how a government would look if structured as a fiduciary, and what the implication of this structure would be.

"Congratulations, Zach! It’s not the usual graduation celebration, but it will also always be remembered in history! I hope you get to celebrate, and certainly let me know if you do make it back when there is an official Commencement." --David Estlund
